Our Programs

Throughout each year there are countless ways to get involved.

Spay and Neuter Clinics

Our spay neuter clinics are in partnership with First Nations communities within Alberta. Our team facilitates and assembles the temporary high volume clinic within the hosting community and provides spay and neuter, tattoo, vaccinations, parasite treatment to hundreds of animals. These clinics are made possible with the support of up to 200 volunteers each day.

ACCESSIBLE VETERINARY CARE

Located in the heart of Calgary, the Task Force Animal Hopsital exists to serve those most in need — pet guardians with limited income and the companion animals they love, who want nothing more than to give their animals the care they deserve. Dedicated to providing accessible care — made possible through generous donations.

Dog Care and Management Program

Since 2016, our Dog Care and Management Program has advocated for a comprehensive, community-based, humane, and sustainable approach to managing dogs in First Nations. Upon invitation, we will provide guidance, resources, and mentoring to First Nations who would like to address public safety concerns and animal welfare issues in their communities.

Cat Care and Management Program

A pilot project started in 2019, with the goal of assisting municipalities with free roaming cat overpopulation. Our first on-site cat clinic was held in Carseland, AB in April 2019. 84 feral cats were trapped, spayed and neutered, treated for parasites, vaccinated (including rabies), tattooed and ear tipped. Local caregivers continue to monitor and care for the feral cats.

Feral Friends Program

Every cat’s story is unique, and some find themselves in need of a new place to call home due to circumstances beyond their control — such as an caregiver passing away or sudden changes that make it unsafe for them to stay where they are. Whenever possible, we advocate for feral cats to remain in their familiar environment, as relocation can be incredibly stressful, especially for those with little human interaction.

Disaster Relief

member of the Alberta Animal Disaster Response Team and the Calgary Emergency Management Agency, we provide assistance with disaster relief efforts in response to natural disasters, such as the 2019 Alberta wildfires, 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires and 2013 Alberta floods. We are a contributing member of the Companion Animal Disaster Response Steering Committee lead by the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association and Alberta Provincial Emergency Services.

Emergency Vaccine Clinics

Created to respond to highly contagious and potentially fatal Canine Distemper outbreaks in First Nation communities. Teams that include veterinarians go door to door and strategically vaccinate dogs that live close to any dogs showing illness.
