DIRECTOR OF FUND DEVELOPMENT

Mandate:

The Canadian Animal Task Force Board of Directors provides strategic oversight, guide
decision-making, and ensures the organization’s adherence to its mission, vision and values.

Overview:
We are seeking someone to join our Board of Directors as the Director of Fund Development.
This role will provide strategic oversight and leadership in fundraising endeavors, ensuring the
financial sustainability of CATF’s mission-driven initiatives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Oversight and Support:

  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and the Fundraising Committee to
    provide expert guidance and support in fund development strategies and donor
    recognition.
  • Contribute to a robust fundraising plan, identifying and cultivating new funding
    opportunities while enhancing donor stewardship practices.

Board Governance and Leadership:

  • Participate actively in board meetings, leveraging expertise to evaluate, recommend and
    approve strategic decisions that advance CATF’s mission and objectives.
  • Engage in ongoing evaluation of CATF’s impact, performance and effectiveness,
    ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.

Key Relationships:

  • Executive Director (ED): Work closely with the ED and Fundraising Committee to align
    fund development efforts with CATF objectives and standards, fostering a collaborative
    environment of mutual support.
  • Fundraising Committee: Provide strategic direction to the Fundraising Committee,
    attending meetings to guide fundraising initiatives in accordance with organizational
    goals.
  • Board Members: Collaborate with fellow board members to oversee finances, strategic
    plans and objectives, leveraging expertise to support CATF’s mission-driven work.
  • Volunteers: Engage with CATF volunteers to plan and deliver services, serving as a role
    model for organizational standards and fostering a culture of excellence and
    commitment.
  • External Stakeholders: Support the establishment and maintenance of relationships
    with businesses, Indigenous communities and the public, promoting CATF’s mission and
    exploring opportunities for collaboration, fundraising and advocacy.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in fund development, with a demonstrated ability to design and
    implement effective fundraising strategies.
  • ¬†Strong policy design skills, a keen sense of diplomacy and a commitment to
    confidentiality.
  • Personal integrity, compassionate nature and a genuine passion for advancing the
    welfare of animals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • A deep understanding of CATF’s stakeholders and beneficiaries, preferably gained
    through direct experience or engagement.
